The Ohio State men’s tennis team just keeps on rolling. On Friday night, the Buckeyes disposed of Purdue easily 4-0, but that’s not the biggest news to come from the match.
With the win, OSU clinched at least a share of the Big Ten title, it’s 17th in a row. Yes, you read that right; 17 in a row and counting. There’s no doubt that despite falling just short of winning an outdoor title over those years, Ohio State is front and center in the team picture for the best men’s tennis programs in college football.

Ohio State won the first two doubles matches to take the all-important point there to go up 1-0. Andrew Lutschaunig and JJ Tracy won 6-1 and Robert Cash and Justin Boulais took care of business 6-2.
In the singles matches, James Trotter got the first win, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win to put the Buckeyes up 2-0, and that was quickly followed by Alexander Bernard, who also made quick work in a 6-2, 6-2 victory. And with OSU up 3-0, the last domino fell when No. 20 ranked Cannon Kingsley would finish his opponent by a score of 6-1, 6-4 to seal the victory.
All told, it took Ohio State just 24 minutes to win the doubles point and just a little over an hour to secure the three wins in the singles matches.

With the win, the No. 2 ranked OSU team is now undefeated in Big Ten play and improved to 25-2 overall on the season. Next up is a date with Indiana at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center on Ohio State’s campus Sunday. A win would secure the outright conference title. The match is set to begin at Noon ET.
