The Ohio State athletic program has had one whale of a showing across all of its sports this academic year. So much so that it’s closing in on another top-five finish in the Learfield Directors’ Cup standings.
The Learfield Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA TODAY. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in NCAA Championships and result in bragging rights, especially among FBS schools.
OSU has historically finished high in these standings and currently sits in fourth place in this year’s standings with just the results of the baseball College World Series to go.
Ohio State has 1,184.5 points, including a national championship in women’s hockey, and is in front of fifth-place Florida with 1,130.75 points and sixth-place North Carolina with 1,023.25 points. Florida and UNC will each have baseball points added to their totals.

The Texas Longhorns have already clinched first place in the standings and Michigan will finish ahead of OSU in third place (boo).
The final standings will be released on July 1 or July 5. It’ll most likely be either a fourth or fifth-place finish for the Buckeyes when it’s all said and done.
