He’s been overshadowed by other receivers his entire career at Ohio State. First, it was Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. Then it was Marvin Harrison Jr. And this year it’s been freshman phenom Jeremiah Smith. But Emeka Egbuka has quietly gone about his job and has not worried about who gets the recognition.
But now, Emeka Egbuka will get some much-deserved recognition as the all-time leader in career receptions at The Ohio State University. Egbuka passed K.J. Hill who held the record with 201 career receptions from 2016-2019 and now stands alone at the top of the list with 203 receptions and counting after passing the mark in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game against Notre Dame.
Of course, there is another young man that is putting up some outstanding numbers. Jeremiah Smith could challenge for that record as he already has 75 catches of his own in his freshman season. Either way, Ebuka will be remembered as one of the all-time greats to wear Scarlet and Gray … and that’s saying something considering the receivers who’ve come through this program.
