Ohio State football freshman loses black stripe

Ohio State football welcomed another one to the brotherhood in four-star freshman, Bryce West. The consensus top 100 player in the class of 2024 saw his first defensive action of the season against the Purdue Boilermakers when he earned 12 total snaps on the day with six on defense and six on special teams. He hit the field against Western Michigan, but that was on special teams only.

The Buckeye coaching staff clearly liked what they saw as he was finally able to shed his black stripe this week. The Glenville product is one of 15 players from the 2024 recruiting class to lose their black stripe already. It looks like the gameplan maybe for West to keep his redshirt this season, but anyone who has followed this young man’s recruitment, knows he has elite potential.

Aaron Scott was the other highly recruited cornerback in the class and he earned the right to remove his black stripe back in August.
