Ohio State football is only a few days away from kicking off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the College Football Playoff national championship game.
Even so, some drama and distraction have entered the news cycle as the Buckeyes dismissed walk-on defensive lineman, Caden Davis.
Most OSU fans will recognize Davis less for his on-field work and more for his social media stardom, which provided fans with a peek into the life of an Ohio State athlete. He had amassed a huge following on TikTok with over 276,000 followers, but he may have crossed a line recently by posting a video that implied he was on the team’s trip to the Cotton Bowl, which resulted in former teammate, George Fitzpatrick, who is now in the transfer portal, to comment, “You don’t play here.”
This doesn’t exactly seem like a dismissal-worthy offense, but perhaps the social media star was already gliding on thin ice. Ohio State has not officially provided a reason for kicking Davis off the team.
