Ohio State Football Cancels Games vs. Washington in 2024, ’25

Ohio State has canceled a future home-and-home football series with Washington, it announced Wednesday afternoon.

The Buckeyes were slated to play the Huskies on Sept. 14, 2024, in Seattle and Sept. 13, 2025, in Columbus. Both teams finished in the AP top 10 following the 2022 season: Ohio State came in at No. 4 after losing to Georgia in the Peach Bowl, and Washington ranked No. 8 after topping Texas in the Alamo Bowl.

The series would’ve marked the 13th and 14th matchups between the two teams. The Buckeyes lead the all-time series, 9-3. In the teams’ most recent matchup, Ohio State defeated the Huskies in the Rose Bowl, 28-23, on Jan. 1, 2019.

Washington will receive a $500,000 cancellation fee from the Buckeyes as part of the teams’ agreement.

The move comes amid the expansion of the Big Ten from 14 to 16 teams beginning in the 2024 season, when USC and UCLA will join the conference from the Pac-12.
