Show me a deeper room among college football than the Ohio State wide receivers. It’s an extremely difficult task.
There is talent all over, from proven stars such as Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka, to solid contributors like Julian Fleming and Xavier Johnson. That’s not even including Jayden Ballard, who many believe is the next player to makes waves among the group.
It’s an extremely hard lineup to crack but early enrollee Carnell Tate is making his case to play right away. The freshman wowed during today’s scrimmage and as someone who has known the Illinois native since his freshman year of high school, it doesn’t surprise me one bit.
Check out below some of the clips of practice along with reactions from Tate’s impressive showing.
Footwork and hands
Carnell Tate is going to be a name everyone knows across College Football this time next year.
The hype surrounding him this spring reminds of the Marvin Harrison Jr talk from last season. pic.twitter.com/VxUJIoEDkT

On hand to see the action
If you're asking me if on April 1st, 2023 Carnell Tate is already one of Ohio State's three best receivers. My answer is yes.

Balled out
True freshman WR Carnell Tate balled out today at OSU's practice (which included some live scrimmage). He looks like he's going to be a really good one. #Buckeyes

A little love for other players too
Carnell Tate was one of the best players on the field at today’s Student Appreciation Day. Made several impressive sideline catches.
Defensive line won the day against the offensive line – Tyleik Williams, Mike Hall, Kenyatta Jackson and JT Tuimoloau were in the backfield often.

Tate wasn’t the only impressive player today, but first mention from Dan Hope.
Impress a former All-American ✔️
At this Buckeye practice and this Carnell Tate kid is for real man.

When a receiver sticks out to a former Buckeye All-American like Chimdi Chekwa, it was an impressive showing.
