If there is one position that you shouldn’t worry about at Ohio State, it’s quarterback.
Head coach Ryan Day has earned everyone’s trust with his track record. Since Day has been in Columbus, each of his quarterbacks has gone on to be selected in the first round of the NFL draft.
Many questioned why the Buckeyes took a commitment from 2025 in-state quarterback Tavien St. Clair due to his low recruiting rankings. Once again, Day showed everyone that he is one of the best at finding a signal caller that will rise up the rankings (see 2024 commit Air Noland).
When St. Clair committed to the Buckeyes, he was rated as the No. 234 overall player according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Today, the Bellefontaine native shot up almost 100 spots to 144th overall.

In their in-house rankings, the rise was even larger. St. Clair went from the No. 244 overall prospect to the 35th, just outside 5-star status. That’s a rise of over 200 spots, and once other networks update their rankings, his composite score should normalize around the top 50 players in the country.
More proof that Ryan Day knows how to scout quarterbacks.
