The CBS Sports Classic has been around now since 2014 and has had the same four teams rotating to do battle since inecption. Ohio State has been a part of things along with Kentucky, North Carolina, and UCLA, and despite many claiming the Buckeyes don’t belong in the loaded field, they’ve actually done pretty well in the event with a 5-4 record overall.
Who knows how long the event will continue to take place with UCLA now joining the Big Ten, but we do know that things will at least go through 2026 when the renewed contract expires. That means we’ll have a matchup on December 21, and this time it’ll take place in the venerable Madison Square Garden in the rotating format.
So who do the Buckeyes play this season? None other than the Kentucky Wildcats, which means that North Carolina and UCLA will do battle in the other game.

OSU is actually 2-0 vs. Kentucky in the showcase event, having seen its 2022 contest against the Wildcats canceled. Ohio State won 71-65 in 2019 and also upset the No. 4 Wildcats 74-67 in 2015.
As far as game time goes, OSU’s game will tipoff after the conclusion of the Carolina vs. UCLA game that is set for 3 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+. Oh yeah, and the storyline of transfer Aaron Bradshaw going against his former team should be a fun one to watch.
