Ohio State basketball beats Eastern Illinois to begin season 3-0

The Ohio State basketball team remained unbeaten by taking care of business at home against the Eastern Illinois Panthers on Wednesday night 65-43.

It was a slow start for both teams with just 46 points combined for both teams entering halftime. The Buckeyes took just a 26-20 edge into the locker room on 9-of-29 shooting, going 6-of-18 from beyond the arc. Luckily for OSU, the Panthers couldn’t take the lid off of the hoop either in the first 20 minutes.

Freshman forward Brice Sensabaugh led all scorers with 20 points on 6-of-14 shooting and was only one of two Ohio State players to score in double figures. The other was Zed Key who registered his third-straight double-double of the season with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

The second half was much better for the scarlet and gray who used a 9-0 early in the second half to extend a three-point lead to double digits, eventually moving things out to a comfortable 20-point advantage with over eight minutes left.

OSU will now get ready to take the long trip to Hawaii to take part in the Maui Invitational next week leading into the Thanksgiving holiday. Consider yourself lucky to take that one in.
