An Ohio man, Jonathan Eric Link, 60, has been accused of murdering his girlfriend, Shannon Anderson, whose body was found nearly 25 years ago. Link was arrested at his home in Centerville, Ohio on Monday for the murder of 29-year-old Shannon Anderson, as announced by the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office.
Link reported Anderson missing to authorities on July 30, 2001, and her remains were discovered on Aug. 16, 2001, in rural Ross County. This arrest comes after a long period of investigation and legal proceedings.
After Anderson's car was found abandoned in the Atlanta Airport parking lot just months into the investigation, a 2002 Montgomery County grand jury initially found insufficient evidence to indict Link for the murder. However, the Kettering Police Department continued to work with cold case detectives over the years to pursue the case.
Recently, the Tactical Crime Suppression Unit (TCSU) and investigators from various law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Secret Service, joined forces to assist in the case. Through their efforts, additional witnesses were located and interviewed, and new forensic evidence was digitally tested.
Following these developments, the case was presented a second time to a Montgomery County grand jury, which ultimately found enough evidence to indict Link on two counts of murder for the death of Shannon Anderson. Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck, Jr. commended the collaborative efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved in bringing the case to this point.
Link's arraignment hearing is scheduled for Jan. 28, where he will face the charges brought against him in connection with the long-unsolved murder case. The arrest marks a significant development in the pursuit of justice for Shannon Anderson and her loved ones after decades of uncertainty.
