Irish people have been shocked by their recent gas and electricity bills with some people being charged over €1,000.
This comes as the Government are consider scrapping some of the cost-of-living measures introduced last year as they are due to expire.
A raft of measures introduced as part of September’s Budget will cease at the end of February. This includes excise duty cuts on petrol and diesel, VAT reductions on electricity and reduced VAT rates for the hospitality sector.

Speaking in the Dáil yesterday, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said that he will not “speculate” on the continuation of cost of living measures as he does not want to “raise expectations”.
However, he stated that an announcement on what measures will continue will be made by the middle of the month.
He also stressed that while there may be some universal measures, most payments will be targeted.
The Taoiseach told the Dáil last week that the Government did not “have the resources” to continue all measures.
Meanwhile, a post on Twitter got Irish people discussing the cost of their latest electricity bills - with some receiving bills for shockingly high amounts.
One woman wrote: "Oh. Sweet. Jesus. The gas bill. €1200 here. Just for my heating. I'm in shock."
A second person responded: "My electric was €979, got it a fortnight ago and I’m still reeling, we’ve no gas or oil - we’re on a discounted rate - I knew it would be high but didn’t expect that."
Another person said that their latest bill has more than doubled, writing: "Esb was €950 in November. Up from €420."
