Oh reveals Celtic fan videos make his heart race as striker declares himself READY for Dundee United debut

Celtic striker Hyeongyu Oh has declared himself ready to rock against Dundee United this weekend.

The £2.5m arrival from Suwan Samsung Bluewings arrived on Monday but insisted he’s out to make a quick fire debut at Tannadice as he’s desperate to quickly hit the goal trail. Oh reckons he’s tailor-made for Scottish football and Ange Postecoglou’s attacking style, and he can’t wait to repay the manager’s faith and start performing in front of Celtic fans.

Oh said: “I’m fit and ready to play. I have a winning mentality. I never like to lose. I enjoy the pressure of winning. I want to give a good impression on my debut and make it a match that no one will be able to forget. The manager showed a lot of faith in me to bring me here, and I want to pay him back by scoring lots of goals."

Oh was unveiled at Celtic Park on Thursday and he admitted watching footage of the fans made his heart skip a beat. He said: “From the moment I heard the offer, I always dreamed about coming over to Celtic and I was looking forward to meeting the fans.

“I have watched Celtic matches. I think the manager’s strategy is the same as mine. I like to chase the ball.

“The fans here are also very enthusiastic and that is also something I am looking forward to experiencing for myself. I saw their reaction to goals being scored and that made my heart beat fast.

“I believe I can bring something to the team and the club. I am a striker and believe I can prove myself by scoring goals. But I will also work hard to help the defence as well.”

Oh admitted he jumped at the chance to move to Celtic as soon as Postecoglou made his move. His K-League side were determined not to sell but the striker begged his bosses not to stand in the way of his dream.

Oh said: “Every morning I wake up now I feel so happy. When I first heard about the offer I was so pleased.

“It took a long time to get things completed, which was quite difficult for me, but I am finally here and it’s what I always wanted. All I could do was give my all in training at my club and focus on that, and let my agent deal with things. But when I spoke to my manager I can summarise the whole conversation by saying that it was my dream to go to Celtic.

“I believe I developed well at my former club and this was my time to move on and become a Celtic player. I have always wanted to play in a European league since I visited the UK in 2015.

“From that moment I knew I wanted to play for one of the big clubs. When Celtic offered I never even had to consider anything else because I knew right away I wanted to come here.”

Oh checked out of Suwan but had a message for the Bluewings supporters. He said: “Thank you very much to all the fans who sent me a lot of support and cheers while I was in Suwon Samsung.

“And I would like to thank the players, coaches, coaching staff, and club staff who worked hard together at Suwon Samsung. I’ll cheer for Suwon Samsung from afar so that they always win. I have never left Suwon, I have taken on a new challenge, and I ask for your support.”
