'Oh my goodness' - Darren Bent left in disbelief by TalkSport host's Mohamed Salah claim

TalkSport's Andy Goldstein has caused a stir by suggesting how he doesn't believe Mohamed Salah would start for every team in world football. In fact, he went as far as saying Phil Foden would start for Manchester City over the Egyptian.

The Liverpool star, who was recently crowned Football Writer's Player of the Year 2022, is leading the way in the Premier League with 22 goals and also has the most assists with 13. The Egyptian has been key to Liverpool battling out for all four major trophies this campaign.

Darren Bent, who was on the show at the time, suggested Riyad Mahrez or Foden would come out of the team for Salah, but Goldstein hesitated when thinking of dropping the England international for Liverpool's number 11.

"I don't think he's the best player in the world," he said before former Tottenham striker Bent asked if he gets into any front three in the world.

Goldstein replied: "Does he? Who do you take out of Man City's front three?"

Bent said Foden or Riyad Mahrez would come out of the team and Goldstein hesitated when it came to the former.

"Salah, the top goalscorer in the Premier League... oh my goodness," Bent said in disbelief.

It then saw Goldstein declare what he thinks: "I think for Manchester City, Foden is better than Salah."

It goes without saying Foden is one of the best young talents in the world, but with 13 goals and nine assists in 40 appearances this season, he doesn't come close to Salah.
