Joe Cordina will attempt to become Wales’ 13th boxing world champion on home soil in Cardiff tonight.
The Welsh Wizard is up against IBF super-featherweight title-holder Kenichi Ogawa at Motorpoint Arena.
Japan’s Ogawa is making the first defence of the vacant belt he claimed against Azinga Fuzile on the Teofimo Lopez-George Kambosos Jr undercard in November.
For Cordina, realising his world title dream would be a firm sign that he has now fully recovered from the hand injury issues that forced him out of the ring for 17 months in total, missing 2020 in its entirety.
The talented former Commonwealth Games bronze medalist and European amateur champion has returned to action with three consecutive wins over Faroukh Kourbanov, Joshuah Hernandez and Miko Khatchatryan.
Also featuring on Saturday night’s Matchroom card are Zelfa Barrett, Dalton Smith, Skye Nicolson and Gamal Yafai.
