A police officer who was pulled from the wreckage of a major crash "is showing signs of gradual improvement."
The officer was injured after two patrol cars responding to separate emergency incidents, crashed at the junction of West Derby Road and Green Lane on Monday, July 11. Concerned neighbours rushed to the scene to help pull the officers out of the cars as police closed the road.
Four officers, two male and two female, were taken to hospital, with two later discharged. Merseyside Police today confirmed one female police officer remains in hospital where she is "showing signs of gradual improvement."

A second female officer who suffered pelvic and leg injuries has now been discharged from hospital and is continuing to recover at home. Andy Mantova was among the people who rushed to the scene to help the police officers involved.
Andy told the ECHO: "I was here after the crash. I live in the hostel down the road. I saw two WPCs involved in the crash. It's so upsetting because that's someone's daughter, or sister or mum. I feel so relieved and blessed to hear that no one has died."
