An officer was attacked while trying to stop a man on an e-bike.
Merseyside Police officers were patrolling on Victoria Road in Birkenhead at around 4pm on Wednesday, February 1, when they spotted a man in dark clothing riding an e-bike. An officer attempted to stop the man after several sightings of suspected drugs transactions had been reported in the area involving a man in dark clothing.
As police tried to stop the man, an officer was assaulted. The suspect then fled into the garden of a nearby home.

An officer eventually arrested a 24-year-old man from Birkenhead on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and driving offences. He was taken to a police station in Wirral and has since been released under investigation.
The police officer sustained cuts and bruising to his arm and back during the incident.
A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "At around 4pm an officer on patrol spotted a man in dark clothing riding an electric bike on Victoria Road. The officer attempted to stop the man after several sightings of suspected drugs transactions had been reported in the area involving a man in dark clothing.
"The officer was assaulted by the man who fled to the garden of a property nearby. A 24-year-old man from Birkenhead was then stopped and arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and driving offences.
"He has since been released under investigation. The police officer sustained cuts and bruising to his arm and back during the incident."
