'Offers were received' - Moises Caicedo agent confirms interest amid Liverpool transfer links

The agent of Moises Caicedo has spoken about his client’s future amid links with Liverpool.

Caicedo has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks and months. However, the Reds never made a move for the Brighton midfielder during the January transfer window.

Chelsea and Arsenal were also linked with a move for Caicedo in January. Reports claimed that both clubs had bids rejected by Brighton for the Ecuador international, with the highest apparently being in excess of £70m.

Caicedo’s agent, Manuel Sierra, has confirmed that offers were made to sign Caicedo in January. And the player’s representative has explained why Caicedo wanted to make a move amid links with Liverpool.

“The offers were received,” Sierra is quoted telling Marca90. “You see what is on the table, and Moises says that he wants to go forward.

“That it is the dream of his whole life; an opportunity that may not be repeated.”

Before deadline day, Caicedo released a statement saying that he wished to leave Brighton before the transfer window closed. As a result, the Seagulls told the midfielder to not attend training until after deadline day.

This meant that Caicedo did not feature against Liverpool in the FA Cup tie last weekend. Sierra has explained how the statement came to happen, and what Caicedo hopes to happen in his career in the future.

“We helped draft the statement,” said Sierra. “In that statement, he expresses his wish and his gratitude to the club. They gave him the chance to fulfil his dream of playing in the Premier League.

“We don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Maybe he trains and picks up an injury. We can’t know what’s going to happen.

“Moises asked the club for permission to publish the statement. He did not go to the game (against Liverpool in the FA Cup) because (Brighton) gave him the weekend off.

“Brighton did not sell him. They understand the situation, and they love him very much.”
