Offensive tackle could be a need for the Raiders again next offseason

The Raiders had one of the best tackle duos in the NFL last season with Kolton Miller and Jermaine Eluemunor. Miller is having another fantastic season, allowing just nine pressures in five games. He’s turned himself into one of the best tackles in the league over the last few years.

However, Eluemunor has taken a few steps back this year. He’s missed time due to some minor injuries, but has already allowed five sacks and has struggled in the run game. Eleumunor will turn 29 this year and is on a one-year deal, which means the Raiders could be in the market for an offensive tackle again next season.

In a recent article by Pro Football Focus, they named a possible draft target for the Raiders in 2024. That player was Oklahoma OT Tyler Guton, who is one of the best tackle prospects in this class. Here is why PFF believes he would be a strong fit in the offense under Josh McDaniels:

Guyton is a monster at 6-foot-7 and 327 pounds, and he is the kind of tackle Josh McDaniels has long aspired to work with.

The Oklahoma star has started at right tackle over the last two seasons and has earned a 71.7 pass-blocking grade on true pass sets in 2023. Guyton can also displace defensive linemen in the run game, having posted a 65.5 grade on gap runs.

It should be noted that the Raiders are still high on former seventh-round pick Thayer Munford, who appeared in the Week 5 win over the Packers. He has not allowed a QB hit on 87 snaps this season and looks to be much improved from last year.

It might be wise for the Raiders to play Munford more this year to see if he is a possible solution at right tackle. If not, that could be a position the Raiders try to address early in the 2024 NFL Draft.
