'Off to Edinburgh it is then' - your say on the Glasgow Christmas Fair plans

The organisers of Glasgow Loves Christmas have revealed their plans for a new look festive fair.

St Enoch Square and George Square will be hosting festivities throughout December and following the Christmas lights switch-on later this month.

Plans are in place for an ice rink, fair, and street food hubs in the run-up to the big day.

St Enoch Square will be hosting The Christmas Fair from November 18 which will feature attractions including The Blizzard - capable of reaching speeds of 70mph - and an ice climbing wall.

Scores of you have been reacting on the Glasgow Live Facebook page with several readers responding to the news of the ice climbing wall in particular.

Many locals seem to be looking forward to the festivities, however, some were quick to share their disappointment at the lack of market, with some even admitting they will be travelling through to Edinburgh instead ...

David Kirkland said: "You know I've always said climbing walls just scream Christmas spirit."

Jill Grimmond commented: "Off to Edinburgh it is then."

"Well will just have to spend a few days in Edinburgh, a disgrace no Xmas market", June Whittaker said.

"Who wants to climb a wall at Christmas?", asked John Giblin.

Kim Campbell added: "Will give it a miss. Bring back the Xmas markets."

There was however, some positive reaction to the Christmas Fair plan, with Rosie McLucas commenting: "Loads of atmosphere in the city centre shops same as anywhere else. It's the people that make it. I work in St Enoch Centre and it's been so uplifting this year. New shops, market on, comic con etc!".

George Furrie said: "I'm glad the city has changed its mind and now decided to have the Christmas markets & fair."
