An off-duty police officer suffered serious facial injuries when he tried to intervene on two men fighting in the street.
The incident happened near to Shotton Hall Academy, on Passfield Way, Peterlee, at about 3pm on Friday, April 28.
The officer was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham with serious facial injuries.

Durham Constabulary is now appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident reference 273 of April 28.
