You knew this was coming a mile away when the news broke.
It doesn’t make it any less funny (says a lifelong New York Giants fan, sorry not sorry).
Eli Manning and the Giants, of course, beat Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots in two Super Bowls, and that means that upon hearing the news on Thursday morning that Belichick was out as the head coach with the Pats, there was going to be trolling. Lots of it.
So here are a few posts on X (formerly Twitter), including one from NBC New York that took a different route in phrasing the news:
#BREAKING: Bill Belichick, who lost two Super Bowls to the Giants, expected to part ways with Patriots later today, reports say, as 24-year tenure ends with regular season loss to Jets https://t.co/dgNyNYBEWu

Farewell Bill Belichick. Don Shula still holds the record for most wins and my NY Football Giants still beat that perfect season record and beat him twice in the Super Bowl! Yeah I’m petty! 🤣 pic.twitter.com/f4FVU596js
