Odisha: CBI summons Senior IAS officer Bishnupada Sethi in 'bribery case', check all updates

Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned senior IAS officer Bishnupada Sethi in connection with its investigation related to a bribery case.

Mr Sethi, who belongs to 1995 IAS batch of Odisha cadre, currently serving as Principal Secretary of State SC/ST, Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) and Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department.

The case details
The case was registered on December 7, 2024, in which officials of Bridge and Roof Construction Company (India) Limited, including Chanchal Kumar Mukherjee and others, are accused of corruption. According to the CBI, IAS Officer Sethi possesses crucial information related to the case.


Accoording to Dynamite News correspondent, the CBI had asked Bishnupada Sethi to visit the CBI office in Bhubaneswar on December 11, but he skipped the summon and sought time to appear before it.
 
The investigation is being carried out by the CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch (AC-II).

People held in the case
Chanchal Kumar Mukherjee, Group General Manager of CPSU Bridge and Roof Construction Co (India) Ltd, contractor Santosh Maharana and super-class contractor Debdatta Mahapatra have been arrested in the case. for further interrogation by the CBI.

The Central agency allegedly caught Mukherjee red-handed and also recored the bribe money. 


Sethi, who is currently posted as the Principal Secretary to the government, had reportedly assigned the projects to Chanchal Mukherjee’s company.
