Odell Beckham Jr. eyeing mid-November return, no signing imminent

Odell Beckham Jr. would have been viewed as somewhat of a luxury signing for the Los Angeles Rams, knowing they already had Allen Robinson and Ivan Jefferson alongside Cooper Kupp. But now for weeks into the season, wide receiver has become a legitimate need.

Robinson has done very little and Jefferson is out through the Week 7 bye. The Rams are still interested in Beckham, but he’s not going to be available for another month.

Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that Beckham is targeting a mid-November return from his torn ACL. With that timeline, Rapoport says an imminent signing “would be a major surprise.”

“Any team could lock Beckham up now and take him through the final stages of rehab, but a later signing is far more likely,” Rapoport wrote.

Beckham has been weighing his options as a free agent, and he should have plenty of them. The Rams, Bills, Chiefs, Bucs and Saints would all make sense as potential fits. Beckham was at Rams-Bills in Week 1 and Saints-Bucs in Week 2, while he also visited Sterling Shepard at the Giants’ facility recently after the WR injured his knee.

It sounds like Beckham could wait until after the Nov. 1 trade deadline, potentially causing “a feeding frenzy in November as the only top player at his position available at a time when the Nov. 1 trade deadline will long have passed,” Rapoport says.

The wait continues for Beckham’s decision, and the Rams may need him now more than ever with the way their offense has stalled.
