Bookmakers have slashed the odds for Leeds to see snow on Christmas day this year.
Leeds is now 4/7 for a white Christmas, slashed from 9/2 just over two weeks ago. A white Christmas is an incredible feat which has become rather rare in recent times, and very few cities in Yorkshire have seen one recently.
The UK experiences a white Christmas on average once every six years and enjoys snowfall once every 3.9 days in December. That’s effectively a flurry every week, which theoretically means there is a one-in-seven chance that snow falls on Christmas day itself.

The UK has not seen snow on the ground on Christmas Day since 2015 when it was observed at a tenth of weather stations. But that could all change and today, bookmakers adjusted the odds of Christmas Day snowfall, anticipating snow in at least four areas including Leeds.
According to William Hill, some will be driving through flurries as several areas are odds on to see at least some snow - including in Leeds.
