Those dreaming of a white Christmas could be on the money this year after a bookmaker slashed the odds of it snowing on Christmas Day.
Weather forecasters have warned it will be a chilly yuletide season with lows of minus eight in December. The odds of it being the coldest December ever have also been slashed to 2/1 by Ladbrokes.
Meanwhile, the odds of snow falling anywhere in Ireland on Christmas day have been cut to 4/6. Ladbrokes say the "festive cheers is gripping the nation early this year" with punters already betting on a white Christmas.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: "It has been twelve long years since Ireland has experienced snowfall on December 25, and if these latest odds are anything to go by, it seems punters could finally be getting their ‘White Christmas’ wish!"
However, the news will strike a sombre note with many feeling the pinch from the cost of living crisis. With energy bills already sky high, it will be a very tough December for many businesses and members of the public if temperatures dip that low.
