Octavia Spencer says Sandra Bullock has ‘lost her soulmate’ following partner Bryan Randall’s death

Octavia Spencer has shared her condolences to Sandra Bullock, after the star’s longterm partner Bryan Randall died at the age of 57.

The Hidden Figures star, who has been friends with Bullock since 1996, shared a photograph of the actor with Randall on her Instagram, writing that her “heart is broken for Sandy and Bryan”.

She added: “Sandy lost her soulmate and the world lost a talented, handsome, all around good guy!”

Spencer continued in her post: “My prayers and condolences to their families. RIP Bryan Randall.

“In heaven, there’s a tiny little lady up there who looks an awful lot like me bossing the Angels around. Especially Gabriel.

“She’ll get him to play any song you want to hear. Give her a kiss from me.”

Bullock and Spencer first met on the set of A Time to Kill in 1996, and later also co-starred in 2005’s Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous.

The family of former model and photographer Randall confirmed on Monday that he had died three years after being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which is also known as motor neurone disease.

He first met Bullock in 2015 after he photographed her adopted son Louis, now 13. They have been in a relationship ever since and raised the star’s adopted daughter Laila, 11, and his daughter Skylar together.

Bullock has never spoken publicly about her partner’s condition.

However in the wake of his passing, the sister of the Academy Award-winning actress praised the star for the way she nursed her long-time partner in secret.

Gesine Bullock-Prado took to her Instagram to write: “I’m convinced that Bry has found the best fishing spot in heaven and is already casting his lure into rushing rivers teaming with salmon.

“ALS is a cruel disease but there is some comfort in knowing he had the best of caretakers in my amazing sister and the band of nurses she assembled who helped her look after him in their home.”

Gesine concluded the post by writing: “Rest in peace, Bryan.”

ALS – or motor neurone disease – is fatal, but it progresses at different speeds in different people. Most people are given a prognosis of between two and five years from diagnosis.

While they kept their romance private, Bullock spoke about her relationship in 2021 on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk where she called him the “love of my life”.

The Blind Side and Gravity actress is yet to speak publicly on his death.
