Obese woman who 'gave up' on love now has baby with fitness trainer half her size

An obese care worker who found love with a man half her size after “giving up” on love has now has a baby with her fitness instructor husband.

Brittany Montgomery, 24, had struggled with her self-confidence after previous partners told her to lose weight and slim down from her size 22, 257lb body.

However, after telling herself she was going to throw in the towel on dating, the woman from Ontario, Canada, met personal trainer Matt Montgomery, also 23, on Facebook.

The pair got on really well from their first date and got married midway through 2021.

Now, the couple is celebrating having expanded their family, with Brittany having given birth to a baby boy.

On their joint Instagram account @ themontgomeryss, they have shared an array of posts since the baby’s birth in March of this year.

A carousel of sweet photos captioned “Purest of love” announcing the baby’s birth show the little boy sleeping peacefully, curled up on a grey knitted blanket and donning a matching grey beanie with ears.

A close-up of the baby’s face followed, along with two videos showing the birthing process and Matt’s reaction to his newborn son.

An Instagram post shared in May and showing an image of the pair on the porch outside their home was captioned “Just like our first date but post baby”.

Speaking of meeting her now-husband, Brittany previously said: “We hit it off right away from the moment we met.

"I was a bit hesitant at first. I've been in relationships where guys have told me that they will dump me if I don't start dieting or trying to lose weight.

"It did affect my self-confidence and at one point I did start working out and trying to change my size.

"But then I realised that if I did that I wouldn't love myself anymore and I would be changing myself for someone else's perception of beauty.

"I wasn't sure if I was ever going to find someone who really loved me for who I am but after meeting Matt I couldn't be happier."

Matt, who weighs 140lb, said he was attracted to Brittany's body positive message almost straight away and that his previous relationships, with slimmer women, suffered because of their body insecurities.

He said: "I've been in previous relationships with skinny girls and they've not been happy in themselves at all.

"They weren't positive people or they constantly felt like they needed to change things about themselves and it got me down too.

"When I met Britt she was so confident in her own body, I loved that about her, she doesn't want to change anything and I would never ask her to.

"I love food as well so that's a plus I'm not worried about tracking her calories or dieting, I just want her to eat what she wants and be happy."

The loved-up couple announced their engagement in January of last year, when Matt asked her to marry him in a candlelit snow-covered setting.

But the couple continue to receive negative comments from online trolls who say that they shouldn't be together.

Matt added: "I do notice people staring when we walk down the street but most of the comments we have had have been online.

"People comment on Instagram and suggest that I'm not big enough or man enough for her."

The couple say they want to see more mixed-weight relationships in the world and rubbished claims it won't work because of their difference in size.

Brittany said: "I wish mixed weight relationships were more common and more in the norm.

"There's definitely this misconception that a fat person and a skinny person can't be properly intimate or do things like start a family but we've never had any issues.

"We feel so lucky to have met each other and it's the happiest we've ever been."
