Stewart Rhodes, the leader of the Oath Keepers militia, had his lengthy prison sentence commuted by President Donald Trump this week. Rhodes was spotted attending a Trump event in Las Vegas on Saturday, entering the venue ahead of Trump's scheduled remarks. The focus of Trump's speech was on his promise to eliminate taxes on tips.
Rhodes was serving an 18-year sentence for seditious conspiracy when Trump issued the commutation shortly after taking office, leading to his release. However, a judge ruled on Friday that Rhodes and other Oath Keepers members were prohibited from entering Washington, DC, or the US Capitol grounds without prior court permission.
On Monday, Trump granted pardons to over 1,000 individuals charged in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack and commuted the sentences of leaders from the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers. The commutations included 14 far-right extremists convicted or charged with seditious conspiracy.
These pardons extended full clemency to numerous individuals who had been convicted of felony crimes such as assaulting police and causing property damage during the attempt to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power.
