Oasis rule out Glastonbury headline slot as they confirm world tour

Oasis has confirmed they will not be headlining Glastonbury or performing at any festivals in 2025, following their comeback announcement.

In a statement shared on social media on Wednesday, the band clarified: “Despite media speculation, Oasis will not be playing Glastonbury 2025 or any other festivals next year.”

Before the statement confirmed their “world tour”: “The only way to see the band live will be on their Oasis Live ’25 World Tour.”

The Britpop icons will reunite for the first time in 16 years, with a tour that kicks off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on July 4.

The tour will include stops at major venues such as London’s Wembley Stadium and Manchester’s Heaton Park, concluding at Dublin’s Croke Park on August 17, 2025.

Their statement comes hours after they addressed fan concern about securing pre-sale access for their upcoming UK and Ireland tour.

Details about the pre-sale were only confirmed on Tuesday evening, leading to anxiety among fans who were unsure if they would get early ticket access due to a lack of confirmation emails.

But the band has reassured fans that they were working to resolve the issue and would ensure that everyone who signed up will have the opportunity to participate in the pre-sale.

In a message to fans on Wednesday Oasis said: “We are aware that many of you are still waiting on a confirmation email.

“Rest assured they are on their way, as we process an unprecedented volume of entries.

“Everyone who has filled out the ballot form by 7pm BST today, Wednesday 28th August, will receive an email where they can confirm their entry in the ballot.”

Oasis is offering fans a chance to enter a 24-hour pre-sale ballot for their upcoming tour, closing at 7pm on Wednesday.

Those entering the ballot are being asked who the band’s original drummer is, and are offered the options of Chris Sharrock, Alan White and the correct answer, Tony McCarroll, who drummed with the band from their formation until 1995.

In addition, hopeful concertgoers must indicate how many times they have seen Oasis perform and specify their preferred concert locations.

Successful entrants will gain early access to purchase tickets for the band’s shows at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Manchester’s Heaton Park, London’s Wembley Stadium, Murrayfield in Edinburgh, and Dublin’s Croke Park.

Winning the ballot does not guarantee tickets, as they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

General ticket sales will open at 9am on Saturday for UK dates and 8am for the Irish dates.

It comes after Spotify reported a 690 per cent increase in Oasis streams globally, along with a “significant increase” in UK streams.

The band’s album tracks and lesser known songs saw a “huge increase” in streams, with The Shock Of The Lightning, Bag It Up and Turn Up The Sun seeing some of the biggest increases.
