OAP left seriously injured after car ploughs into tree on Scots road

A pensioner has been left badly hurt in hospital after her motor ploughed into a tree in Aberdeen. The 88-year-old woman was driving a silver Volkswagen Polo on the Baillieswells Road at around 10.20am on Saturday, August 27, when the vehicle left the road.

Emergency services were called to the scene with the injured woman rushed to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment a short time later. Medics describe her injuries as ‘serious’ however her current condition is not known.

Police closed the road for around five hours to allow for a full accident investigation to take place. Officers are now appealing for anyone with information about the crash to come forward.

Sergeant Steve Manson, of North East Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone with information to get in touch.

“If you were in the area and witnessed the crash, or have any potential dashcam footage which could assist our investigation, please call police on 101, quoting incident 1230 of 27 August.
