A pensioner is fighting for his life after a horror crash on a Scots road.
Emergency services scrambled to Meethill Road in Peterhead after the alarm was raised at around 11am on Wednesday, August 17. Ambulance crews attended following the single vehicle smash, which involved a blue Ford Fiesta.
The 78-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment. Medical staff describe his condition as "critical".
A picture taken from the scene showed the multi-emergency response with police, fire crews and medics in attendance following the crash. The road remains closed to allow enquiries to be carried out and officers are appealing for information.
Road Policing Sergeant Steve Manson said: “Our enquiries into the crash are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, who has not already spoken to police, to contact us.
“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and saw the vehicle prior to the incident or who has dash-cam footage which may assist to get in touch.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11.17am on Wednesday, August 17 to reports of a road traffic collision involving one car on Meethill Road, Peterhead.
“Operations Control mobilised one appliance to support the emergency services on the scene. One male casualty was placed into the care of paramedics. The crew ensured the area was safe before leaving.”
