OAP charged after car hit launderette in Lanarkshire village

A pensioner has been charged in connection with a road traffic incident in East Kilbride.

Police confirmed the 85-year-old male driver is accused of road traffic offences following the incident at Kirkton Park yesterday (January 31).

Lanarkshire Live told how the OAP's Skoda was reported to have spun out of control at around 11.20am.

Witnesses reported that it allegedly ended up hitting the Village Launderette and metal barriers at Spice Indian restaurant.

No-one was injured in the incident.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "An 85-year-old man has been charged with road traffic offences in connection with this incident and a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal."
