Entertainment, leisure and shopping venue The O2 in Greenwich has recorded its busiest ever year with a 12% rise in visitors to over 10 million.
Latest figures from the landmark, best known for its music arena, also show sales from retail, leisure and eating and drinking saw a 6% increase.
Outlet shopping finished the year 10% up on last year’s sales, with the week around Black Friday seeing a 16% like-for-like sales uplift compared to 2023
New brands in 2024 included All Good Things, Clarks, Bedeck, Castore, and Soletrader, as well as several renewals for existing tenants such as Le Creuset, Whittard, and Clarins
The O2’s Entertainment District saw a sales uplift of 3%, having achieved full leasing completion in February 2024
New openings included Chopstix and Slim Chickens.
Leisure operators saw growth of 8%, driven in part by new arrivals such as gaming destination Activate, who launched their first UK site at the O2 in 2024.
Janine Constantin-Russell, managing director of the Entertainment District and Outlet Shopping of The O2, said last year “highlighted how important ‘social spending’ is for a destination to thrive, and as our results show, it has a significant impact across every element of our offer.”
Meanwhile the arena recorded a second consecutive year of record-breaking ticket sales with over 2.6 million tickets sold.
The O2 will host a world-first event with Formula 1 in February to mark the launch of their upcoming season, as well as a residency with US R&B singer Usher, who will be bringing his hotly anticipated tour to The O2 for a 10-night run in April.
