O.J. Simpson's Remains To Be Cremated, No Brain Donation

O.J. Simpson listens to attorneys during sentencing in Las Vegas, Nevada

The late O.J. Simpson, who recently passed away due to prostate cancer, will be cremated following his wishes, as reported by the New York Post. Despite calls for his brain to be donated for research on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), Simpson's attorney and executor, Malcolm LaVergne, confirmed that the family has declined the request.

CTE, a degenerative brain disease linked to repeated head injuries, has been a topic of debate in relation to former NFL players. Recent data from the Boston University CTE Center revealed that a significant percentage of former NFL players studied were diagnosed with CTE posthumously.

CTE is linked to repeated head injuries, prevalent in former NFL players.

While CTE can only be definitively diagnosed through a brain autopsy, symptoms often include anger among those affected. Simpson, known for his NFL career but infamous for the 1994 murders of his ex-wife and another individual, was acquitted of the crimes. He passed away at the age of 76.

LaVergne mentioned that the cremation of Simpson's remains is scheduled for Tuesday, in accordance with Simpson's wishes. Additionally, there may be a future 'celebration of life-type service' for close friends and family.
