
The New York Police Department arrested individuals Wednesday afternoon after dispersing a protest encampment on the campus of Fordham University Lincoln Center, the NYPD said in a social media post.



The university requested the NYPD’s assistance, stating that it wanted to prevent further escalation. According to a letter posted by NYPD Deputy Commissioner Kaz Daughtry, the university expressed concerns about the encampment and related disruptions posing a clear and present danger to persons, property, and the substantial functioning of the University. The letter highlighted the need for emergency authority to protect individuals and property.
