Judge Juan Merchan announced that the proceedings in the NY vs Trump trial will conclude early on Monday due to a jury member experiencing a toothache. The trial, which was scheduled to end at 2 p.m. ET, will now wrap up at 12:30 ET.
The juror who raised the issue, identified as number 6, informed the judge about a dentist appointment scheduled for 1:20. In response to this situation, Judge Merchan decided to end the proceedings earlier to accommodate the juror's dental needs.
Additionally, another juror, identified as number 9, expressed concerns about the media attention surrounding the trial and indicated uncertainty about continuing to serve on the jury. Following this revelation, Judge Merchan held a private discussion with juror number 9, along with representatives from the prosecution and defense teams. Ultimately, it was determined that the juror would remain part of the jury panel.
The jury selection process had concluded recently after two confirmed jurors were dismissed from their duties. Both dismissed jurors cited concerns about potential public identification through press reports as the reason for their departure from the trial.
