The CES 2025 tech show has wrapped up in Las Vegas, and Nvidia made some of the biggest announcements at the expo. It unveiled its new range of RTX 50-series graphics cards, which gamers worldwide will be eager to get their hands on for years to come.
We also got our first glimpse of what’s coming in the world of laptops. Most major manufacturers have teased at least a couple of new models.
We don’t have the full details on UK prices or the exact release dates. However, Nvidia has confirmed that these gaming PCs will start appearing on shelves in “March 2025”.
The standout feature of these Nvidia RTX 50 gaming laptops is their impressive performance, rivalling that of more expensive last-gen models. For instance, Nvidia claims that a machine with an RTX 5070 card can deliver performance comparable to an RTX 4090 — a model with a much higher price point.
How? Nvidia’s next-generation DLSS technology is an upscaling feature that uses machine learning AI to generate more frames. This significantly boosts games’ frame rates beyond what was possible with the RTX 40 series cards.
Here’s a brief overview of the RTX 50-packing laptops we’ve heard about.
Razer Blade 16
When? “Q1 2025”
How much? Big money, TBC
The Razer Blade is among the most desirable gaming laptops. It looks and feels great — and features top-quality components. Typically, it comes at a high price.
Razer claims it’s the “thinnest gaming laptop ever designed”. But a blog on the subject then ends the sentence with “… by Razer.” We’re referring to the 14.9mm thickness of the thinnest point in the laptop, so it’s not as exciting as it sounds.
However, the laptop itself is. It’s a unibody aluminium laptop, for MacBook Pro-like toughness and feel, and will come with up to the top-tier Nvidia RTX 5090 graphics card. It features a deep keyboard, a six-speaker audio system and a QHD+ 240Hz OLED screen. Razer has also sided with AMD, using chipsets up to the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 rather than rival Intel’s hardware.
MSI Titan 18 HX Dragon Edition Norse Myth
When? March 2025
How much? TBC, £4,000-plus judging by the last generation
MSI goes a bit “out there” with the inspirations for its high-end gaming laptops. This time it’s all about “Norse mythology”, which influences some of the design flourishes seen on the thing — mostly the outlandish lid.
Typical of the Titan series, though, it’s a truly maxed-out performance laptop that doesn’t aim to sacrifice much to lower weight and bulk. It weighs 3.6kg, is 32mm thick and full of high-end tech.
This top-tier model has an 18-inch 4K mini LED screen, much brighter than the average laptop OLED display, 1000 nits. We get a fab mechanical keyboard with Cherry keys. And, as is typical for these super-powered MSI laptops, a 99.9Whr keyboard pushes the limit of what you’re allowed on an aeroplane. Graphics card options include the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090.
MSI Raider/Vector/Stealth
When? TBC, March expected
How much? TBC
The MSI Titan may be a bit pricey for most budgets, but MSI has already confirmed that the more affordable Raider, Vector, and Stealth lines will soon receive an upgrade to the RTX 50-series. MSI is typically among the first to release multiple laptop series featuring the latest GPU technology.
The 16-inch Stealth is one of the closest options to a portable gaming laptop from MSI. It weighs 2.1kg and is 19.95mm thick. That’s quite impressive for a laptop of this screen size — and it can be configured with an RTX 5070, going up to an RTX 5090 card. There’s also an 18-inch version available, although this one weighs nearly 3kg.
The Vector, available in 16-inch and 18-inch models, doesn’t prioritize low weight and slim design. It opts for more budget-friendly components to help reduce the cost of a Titan-style laptop. For example, it features a relatively standard IPS LCD screen, a keyboard without a prominent brand, and a more basic 4-speaker audio system.
In contrast, MSI’s Raider family sits between the Vector and Titan. These 16-inch and 18-inch laptops are larger, chunkier, and more powerful. They come equipped with high-end features like mini-LED screen panels and SteelSeries keyboards. While they may have less flashy cooling systems, they deliver top-tier performance.
HP Omen Max
When? “Coming soon”
How much? $2,699, UK price TBC
HP’s Omen series is known for offering some of the best all-around deals in gaming laptops, often one of the more affordable routes to high-end GPUs. The Omen Max, for instance, features an RTX 5080 graphics card, an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, and 32GB of RAM — all at a price point similar to that of a 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Considering the level of performance it delivers, that’s quite a good deal. It comes with a matte IPS LCD screen that boasts 500-nit brightness, an RGB keyboard, and a relatively understated design — though the large “016” insignia on the keyboard surround is a noticeable feature.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G16/G14
When? TBC
How much? $2,000-$4,000, UK pricing TBC
The Asus Zephyrus range has been around since 2017 and has proven that you can create a gaming laptop that’s both powerful and portable while still maintaining some of that MacBook-like quality. These RTX 50-series models are largely updated versions of the 2024 lineup, but they still boast impressive specifications.
The 14-inch Zephyrus weighs around 1.5kg and is just 15.9mm thick, making it highly portable. The 16-inch version is slightly heavier at 1.85kg but remains fairly easy to carry, and it’s even thinner at 14.9mm. Both models can be equipped with up to the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090, although it’s important to note that their power ceiling is slightly lower than the larger, more high-end models.
The price may be steep, but these Zephyrus PCs are highly desirable. Both versions feature OLED screens and aluminium shells.
Asus ROG Strix G18/G16/Scar 18
When? TBC
How much? UP to $4,200, UK pricing TBC
Asus’s Strix series spans a broad range of prices in the RTX 50 generation, topped by the Scar 18 model. It’s large, powerful, and comes at a high cost, with a price tag of $4,199 as revealed by US retailer Best Buy. This configuration includes a 2TB SSD, 32GB RAM, an RTX 5090 GPU, and an Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU.
Thankfully pricing drops off significantly for the mid-tier Strix G16 and G18 models. We hope to see the 16-inch version arrive at under £2,000, with the RTX 5070 Ti card and a (hopefully) handsome 165Hz screen.
Acer Predator Helios 16/18 AI
When? From April (US, UK release date TBC)
How much? Up to €3,699
The 16-inch and 18-inch Predator Helios laptops from Acer offer different experiences, with the 18-inch model featuring a significantly higher spec ceiling.
This version features mini-LED screens, mechanical keyboard keys, and a dual-state display panel that can switch between 4K resolution at 120Hz or Full HD at 240Hz — ideal for competitive gamers. It’s expected to retail at €3,699, with UK pricing yet to be confirmed.
The 16-inch version, on the other hand, uses a slightly more accessible RTX 5070 Ti graphics card to keep the price lower, though it still comes with an OLED screen in its top configuration. This isn’t a budget laptop by any means.
Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI
When? May
How much? €2,399
The Acer “S” laptop is a slimmer, more accessible version of the Helios design, measuring around 20mm thick and offering a more budget-friendly option.
As is often the case with Acer gaming PCs, the US market offers a better deal — priced at $1,699 compared with €2,399 in Europe. The conversion makes it less favourable.
That said, it delivers impressive hardware: weighing 2.3kg, featuring a 1,600p OLED display, and equipped with an RTX 5070 Ti graphics card.
