Foods to eat:
- Vitamin A (found in potatoes, squash and leafy greens) = These foods help to keep your mucus membranes healthy.
- Fish = Protein is essential for singers to keep their energy levels up
- Honey = Honey can help soothe a sore throat as it’s got antibacterial and antimicrobial qualities, so it can help keep the bad, sore-throat bugs away, whereas nuts
And ones to avoid
- Dairy = ‘This can cause acid to form in the stomach, which can damage your vocal cords. Butter is especially something you should avoid, as it can grease up your throat’
- Ice water = ‘It can cause your vocal cords to constrict and affect your voice’
- Fried Foods = ‘These foods can be dehydrating, cause extra mucus and trigger acid reflux’
Anna said: “To look after your voice, you want to avoid too much dairy and foods that are going to trigger reflex. That’s why a veggie or flexi diet is perfect for those looking to strengthen their vocal cords”
