A Salford nursery is celebrating an overall "outstanding" inspection report three years after being issued with a notice to improve. Busy Bees Day Nursery at the University of Salford got the best possible Ofsted assessment in the quality of its education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management after it was visited on May 19.
Its overall effectiveness at its previous inspection had been judged to have "good". In May 2019, Ofsted took action after receiving a complaint that the nursery was not meeting some requirements.
The facility's management investigated and took action to improve management strategies, particularly during meal times. They also took action to promote teamwork and mutual support.
Ofsted says it is now satisfied with the action taken by the provider. In the new glowing report, inspector Karen Cox hailed the "high levels of energy and excitement as children enter a safe, vibrant and well-resourced nursery".
She said: "They quickly become emersed in the array of activities and experiences. They concentrate intensely on their chosen tasks and show a passion for learning and exploring.
"Staff have high expectations of what children can achieve and have an impressive knowledge of children's individual capabilities, learning styles and what makes them unique."
Ms Cox said that the children's behaviour is "exemplary" and they show kindness and concern for one another as they play harmoniously together.
"Excellent consideration is given to children's physical and emotional wellbeing, particularly following the Covid-19 pandemic," she said.
Ms Cox described the curriculum as "inspiring and wholly captivating" informed by "meticulous observations and robust partnerships with parents".
"The nursery has an exceptionally warm and welcoming ethos," she said.
And she hailed the nursery's safeguarding practices. "Leaders and staff have a robust understanding of their role and responsibility to protecting children from harm," she added. "Children's safety and well-being are a priority and deeply embedded into daily practice."
