Number 10 announces further junior ministerial appointments amid reshuffle

Number 10 have confirmed a number of junior ministerial appointments

MORE ministerial appointments have been announced by No 10.

The Queen approved the appointments on Wednesday before the announcement of her ill health broke. 

Downing Street announced a series of junior government posts had been filled, including parliamentary under secretary, whose role is the lowest of the three tiers of ministerial posts available. 

“On Wednesday, September 7, the Queen approved the following appointments to take effect today,” a No 10 statement said.

Lucy Frazer (South East Cambridgeshire) is a transport minister, Andrew Griffith (Arundel and South Downs) is Financial Secretary to the Treasury, while Neil O’Brien (Harborough) and Caroline Johnson (Sleaford and North Hykeham) are junior health ministers.

Gillian Keegan (Chichester) has been made a junior minister in the Foreign Office, previously serving as Minister of State for Care and Mental Health since 2021.

Lucy Frazer has been appointed transport minister

Brendan Clarke-Smith (Bassetlaw) takes a Cabinet Office role, while Dehenna Davison (Bishop Auckland) becomes a junior minister in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

David TC Davies (South East Wales) retains his junior role in the Wales Office, Jo Churchill (Bury St. Edmunds) and Sir David Evennett (Bexleyheath and Crayford) are whips.

Andrea Jenkyns (Morley and Outwood), the deputy chairwoman of the European Research Group (ERG), Damian Collins (Folkestone and Hythe), Rebecca Harris (Castle Point), Joy Morrissey (Beaconsfield) and Stuart Anderson (Wolverhampton South West) have retained the frontbench roles they had under Boris Johnson.
