NT records one COVID-19 death and 632 new cases as number of ICU patients remains steady

The NT has recorded one new COVID-related death — a woman in her 80s from Alice Springs.

The woman had underlying health conditions and died at Alice Springs Hospital, the NT government said in a statement.

There have now been 21 COVID-19 related deaths recorded in the Northern Territory.

The number of COVID-19 patients in NT hospitals has dropped to 98, down from 101 on Friday. Seven patients are in intensive care.

Sixteen patients require oxygen.

There were 632 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the NT in the 24 hours to 8pm on Friday.

Of these, 566 were positive cases from rapid antigen tests.

There were 409 cases recorded in the Top End region, 93 in Central Australia, 24 in East Arnhem, 29 in the Big Rivers region, and 35 in the Barkly region. Forty-two are under investigation.

The number of active cases in the NT is about 4,835.
