Northern Territory police are investigating an incident at a Palmerston home that allegedly left a pet dog dead and another injured.

NT police allege seven people unlawfully entered a home in Driver at 6:20pm on Sunday, causing extensive property damage, killing a pet dog and seriously injuring another.

NT Police Commander Matthew Hollamby said the incident was being investigated by the Gangs Task Force.

"A pet dog has been violently killed and another seriously injured in a cowardly and organised attack," he said.

"This is horrible behaviour.

"A number of individuals have already been identified and they will be held to account

"NT Police has zero tolerance for gang-related activity."

He said police understood the offenders and victims knew each other.
