A Northern Territory man has been charged with allegedly physically and sexually assaulting his female partner multiple times and threatening to distribute sexually explicit images of her.
In a statement issued today, Northern Territory police said the 31-year-old man had been arrested on Thursday by detectives from the Domestic Violence and Sex Crimes Unit and later charged.
It said police allege the man physically and sexually assaulted his partner "on a number of occasions" from December 2021, and threatened to share intimate photos of her.
The accused is facing nine offences, including sexual intercourse without consent, aggravated assault, threatening to distribute intimate images and breaching a domestic violence order.
Domestic and family violence section officer-in-charge Michael Budge described the man's alleged conduct as a "prolonged, cowardly act of violence that was completely reprehensible".
The man was remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Darwin Local Court today.
