NT Police charge man with murder for Darwin City incident earlier this month

Northern Territory police have charged a man for the murder of another man at a block of flats in Darwin City earlier this month.

On Saturday, April 9, NT Police said it was investigating an incident where a man was seriously injured at a residential complex in the city. 

Police announced the incident was a murder investigation after the man, 54, died in Royal Darwin Hospital on Wednesday.

On Friday evening, police arrested a 51-year-old man and charged him with murder in relation to the incident.

Police said the victim was allegedly assaulted with a blunt weapon.

"This was a horrendous act of domestic violence and sadly the victim has lost their life as a result," NT Police Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Michael Budge said.

"If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic or family violence, please reach out for help. You can contact police at any time on 131 444 or in an emergency call 000."

Police said the man has been remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on April 19.
