Northern Territory Police say they have “disrupted an organised crime syndicate” with the arrest of nine people in the outback town of Tennant Creek.
A three-and-a-half month investigation led officers to make the arrests, police said in a statement on Thursday
It was set up to disrupt the supply of cannabis in the Barkly region and associated Aboriginal communities.
It will be alleged the group supplied more than 21 kilograms of cannabis over a one-year period.
Police will further allege the group made more than half a million dollars in profit from the activities.
Police arrested six men aged and three women between the ages of 26 and 62 years old on Wednesday.
Police said they had been charged with one count each of supply commercial cannabis, possess commercial cannabis and possess tainted property.
All nine were remanded to appear before the Alice Springs Local Court on Thursday.
