NT Police said officers responded to reports of an aggravated assault on Saturday morning just after 9am, in the remote community of Mutitjulu in the MacDonnell region.

Two men were allegedly engaged in a fight when the 18-year-old man assaulted a 19-year-old man with a knife, NT Police said in a media statement.

The victim suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

The 18-year-old man was arrested after turning himself in to police.

He remains in custody.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
