A Northern Territory remand prisoner who allegedly injured one police officer and knocked over another as he escaped custody in a remote town has been captured.

Earl Junior Foster, 23, fled Elliott Police Station on Tuesday after forcing his way past the officers.

He was re-arrested about 5am on Friday after a two-day manhunt in the town of around 350 people.

Police will transport Foster to Tennant Creek to be charged.

The injured officer suffered a cut to his cheek during the escape and was taken to Tennant Creek Hospital for medical treatment.

Elliott is 735km southeast of Darwin.
