Seven years after he allegedly sexually assaulted an Australian woman in New Caledonia, a Sydney man has faced court.
Police allege Felix Lara, 37, from suburban Liverpool, sexually assaulted the Australian woman while they were both in Noumea in 2015.
He was charged by the Australian Federal Police's Special Investigations Command as a result of an investigation launched in November 2018.
On Friday he was granted bail in Liverpool Local Court with conditions including surrendering his passport, not leaving the country and reporting police every week.
His next hearing is scheduled for April 5.
