The man accused of murdering his fiancee's daughter during a Blue Mountains holiday has also been charged with improperly interfering with her corpse.
The body of nine-year-old Charlise Mutten was found in January in a barrel dumped near the Colo River northwest of Sydney.
NSW Police later said an autopsy found she had died of a gunshot wound.
Justin Laurens Stein, 31, has previously been charged with her murder, as well as with aggravated break and enter, and five firearm-related offences.
He also faces two counts of possessing child abuse material in unrelated matters.
His case was mentioned in Penrith Local Court on Friday, when it was adjourned for further mention on February 10.
The court listing states that the murder charge is to be withdrawn and replaced with domestic-violence related murder.
It also now refers to a charge of 'improperly interfere with corpse or human remains".
Charlise, a pupil at Tweed Heads Public School, was reported missing on January 14, while holidaying at Wildenstein Private Gardens at Mount Wilson.
A five-day search of bushland ended with her body being found in the barrel.
